yes its getting warmer--but not hot, so have not had to have the a/c on (nice!!)
and even nicer--the other folks here were are GONE today--had the whole place to ourselves, nice and QUIET for a change (no slamming doors, smoking in the halls, stomping up stairs, glaring music....ah, nice and peaceful).
only bad part---hubby had to work, servers went haywire so on a holiday weekend, they called him up to work (no, he does not get extra pay for it either--and probably wont even get acknowledged that he DID work while all the others who were also there will).
ah well, that is usually the way it goes, at least they got it 'fixed' before too late (no midnight marathon calls--or would that be a binge???)

It is supposed to be pretty warm tomorrow. 84 at our new home. Which is why I haven't posted in a while. Been super busy moving and everything...
Does he at least get holiday pay then? Cause that would be nice.
Busy busy. Still in the process of trying to unpack everything and get it put away. Would go quicker but my wife likes control. So I can't really unpack anything and put it away because I would probably put it in the wrong place and then she would have to move it. So ya. Oh well.
2 interviews tomorrow. 1 in the morning which is a 2nd interview with the school and then 1 in the afternoon for a first interview with the school. Busy busy...

Yes, you sound quite busy!!
Moving can be quite the experience (done it waaaaaaaay toooo many times), and yeah, I am very much like your Mrs on that one---my hubby would put things in places where he thinks they might be good, however, he wouldnt remember where that was and when we did find it --I wouldnt understand his reasonings (like why exactly you would put kitchen items in the bedroom and such....), so not so much control as at least ONE person knowing (and remembering!!) where the items were put.
congrats on the second interview and getting yet another interview and good luck!!
So school is over then?
and yes, warm and humid (though it is supposed to be cool again this weekend!) have had the a/c on for the last few days (had to have in on when the neighbors grill as keeping our balcony door open at that time lends to having smoke in our place!)
I have been doing more genealogy stuff, trying to locate information on my great grandparents --got my great grand dad's name but no information on my great grandmother (other than she was in the USA when my grand mother was born--says that on my grandmothers birth certificate ). Have traced the rest back to Europe and thats about where the information ends, the wars really messed up places over there and tons of records prior to the 1940's are long gone. So I can only trace back to my great grand parents for the most part (have names for some of the ones prior to that but little else)....so not one of those families that can say 'we can trace our family back to the 1690 xyz event'...I get stuck somewhere around the 1860's (which isnt very far considering my parents were born before the great depression). Ah well, it gives me something to do I guess

Very busy. Finally got my desktop set up. I have been using just my laptop occasionally. But most of my time has been spent unpacking and adjusting to the new place. Oh and trying to find everything. That hasn't gone so well... Oh well!
School is over for me. I've been out for about a week now. Waiting to hear back from both places. The one I had a second interview with will be a job offer from HR, the other one would be for a second interview with them. I know I'll hear back from the first place, but I don't know if I'll even get called in for a 2nd interview at the second place. Though that interview did seem to go very well I feel. So we will see.
Going to be cooler this week. Had a lot of rain on Saturday and then it was much cooler yesterday with wind. Today is supposed to not even reach 70 here. Crazy!
Genealogy has never been my thing. My mother-in-law does it and likes it. But not something that has really interested me too much. Though it is cool to see where your ancestors came from. I just don't want to do the leg work to search for that.

it will take time, moving is a loooooong process (still havent found things from the last time I moved either).
wow, school over before june, I think the kids around here have another week.
and yes, it has been cool--unseasonably cool, but its not bad--like not having the a/c on (and yes, you are farther north now, a bit different weather, not much but a bit).
and yes, usually men arent very interested in genealogy, which is why I have more information about my moms family than my dads. (and why my oldest brother doesnt 'remember' things from our great grandfather.--as he is about the only person who is still alive and was old enough when he was alive to remember him).
hope you get good news on the job front.

Yup it is going to take a while to get settled, that is for sure. But we are getting there.
Some schools up here still have some time left. Glad I am done!
I'm sure someday my wife will know more about my family than I do.
Job front, ya... So kinda interesting there actually. I got a call from my first interview school (JHS to make it easy) offering me the position. That one has gone from a 0.8 to a 1.0. Awesome. Then I get a call from the other school I had an interview at (CHS to make it easy) and they wanted to meet with me today if possible. So I just got back from meeting with CHS. That went pretty well, I met 3 administrators and it went alright. It wasn't as "awesome" as what I thought it could be, but it went okay. I told them I had a job offer on the table and they kinda balked at it a bit and told me they still wouldn't know anything until early next week. So I left there going okay, that is probably to late. I called my mother-in-law (she is a teacher up here and my mom didn't answer...) and we ended up talking for most of my drive home. I was starting to lean towards JHS, especially after CHS told me that the job there would be either a 0.94 or a 0.86... So at the end of the conversation with my mother-in-law we both kinda were thinking CHS doesn't care quite as much if they told me they weren't going to know until Tuesday. I get off the phone with her, I had missed 3 of my mom's calls in the process, and decide I'm going to wait to call my mom till I'm home since I'm like 2 mins out. That is when my phone rings, but it isn't my mom. Turns out it is one of the administrators from CHS telling me that the position will be a 0.94 and that they are interested in having me do it so she was doing reference checks. So apparently CHS is just as interested. So no real job offer yet from CHS, because of reference checks and such, but it sounds like it is definitely in the works. Now I have choices and thus a decision to make... So it is all good news, it is just going to be making a decision soon.

wow, that is good news! so many folks I know go to interviews and ....never hear back, so its nice to see people that are being almost fought over now (10 years ago it was the norm, but now, not so much).
good luck with whichever you choose!

The numbers are looking at FTE or full-time equivalent. So 1.0 is considered Full-Time. So a 0.8 FTE is 0.8 the salary of a 1.0 FTE. Just means that I would be considered a part-time employee at anything that isn't 1.0. It wasn't clear to me the first time I saw them either, I had to ask.
Ya I feel very lucky to have this chance. Very few people even get interviews. Especially this early-on. And I have one job offer and what sounds like another one coming.

If you'd be making the same money working less time you should do that. Pretty much always. Lol.

I'd be making 0.8 of the full time salary. So it would not be the same money. Insurance I don't have to worry about as I am on my wife's insurance. Also hi. Been super busy.

lol
it will take time to get it all done, and since you have time to do it now, its a good thing, you can do it right.
and yes, full time salary is always better than part time salary.

lol Something like that.
Accepted the 1.0 position yesterday. Now for the fun process of getting a physical done, drug test, TB test, and so on. That is all standing in the way of signing a contract. Sheesh.

Thanks guys! It is extremely rare here to get a job this early apparently. Even more rare to get a choice between two schools. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to make my own choice. My mother-in-law, who works up here, didn't get her position in the same district until a week before school started. That apparently is extremely common. So glad I have one now!
Ya unpacking... So much fun... But we have a couch now, so that is nice!

so you have a place to SIT and unpack
hope its going well....its been pretty humid and warm here, just glad its not in the 90's (like it was when I lived in japan--90+ and 90+ humidity doesnt make for times you feel like doing much).
and yes, you sound like you did indeed get pretty dang lucky!
